Later it was moved to Crestview because of the possibility of flooding in Milligan. Since this is a relatively new county, most people are looking for relatives in the parent counties, however, there are great resources in Okaloosa for anyone doing research in the Panhandle. Don't forget to look in all the surrounding counties.
As I have spread myself pretty thin, I have somewhat neglected this site and am sorry. I'll take a bit less orthodox tack and link to both the Baker Block Museum site for new materials. I have been working on the Baker website for a long while, now and as they have such great resources for the area, it seemed a good idea not to split items between the two sites. We have been posting old newspapers in their entirety, scans of old maps, and other very useful items.

Subscribe to FLOkaloosa Email: Visit this group Troy library - Many of you have researched there and know how wonderful it is. They are trying to get funding for a bigger facility. They actually have a building site and are hopeful that soon all will be in order for a completely new library, rather than the expansion that was previously planned. Please help if you can.
As always, please let me know of things you may wish included here. Help is always appreciated!
1916 report on Choctawhatchee National Forest by WF Hill contains vignettes of many homesteaders living in the forest at that time.
New section for uploading copies of hardcopy data. We encourage any who are willing to send copies of such things as birth, marriage or death certificates; funeral home records; homestead papers or other published sources you may have on people who lived in the area. You may also send tips for researchers. See the one Jo Nagel sent. We will post them so others may be able to access them. [Please remember to tell me in advance so I won't think I am receiving a virus.]
