Lake Placid is what I would consider the South end of Highlands County. It is approx. 12 miles south of Sebring and is known as the "Caladium Capital of the World". Main Street in Lake Placid was the first known major entry into our small town. Our town is also now famous for our beautiful Murals. We have dozens of them. They portray memories of Lake Placid in the early days. They were mostly painted by local artists from Lake Placid and other areas in the County. Lake Placid is also known for the Lake Placid Tower. If you travel East on CR621 you will find our many caladium fields and muck lands, famous in this area. The muck lands run all the way between CR621 and Hwy 70 East. If you wish to view more fields of caladiums growing just follow HWY 27 south to HWY 70 East.
Lake Placid has a High School, a Middle School and two Elementary
Schools.
We have our Chamber of Commerce

Lake Placid Library

Florida Hospital Lake Placid
Lake Placid Health Care is our local Nursing Home
Lake Placid Museum
Lake Placid Historical Society
