The Escambia County, Florida GenWeb (FLGenWeb) site transferred from its initial host, Rootsweb, to its new host, the FLGenWeb in 2008. The FLGenWeb remains associated with the USGenWeb, but the Florida Archives has moved to the following site: FLGenWeb Digital Library & Archives. We are hopeful that the USGenWeb Archives as well as the Florida Tombstone Project will eventually move to the new FLGenWeb.

With contributions from members of the West Florida Genealogical Society and other volunteers, I am pleased to bring the Escambia County FLGenWeb site to you. My friend and colleague, Virginia “Ginny” Deagan, served as Webmaster and County Coordinator for more than 10 years, in fact, since the start of the GenWeb system. She developed the Escambia County web site into what it is today and it is a huge responsibility to try to follow in her footsteps. I ask for your support in continuing her legacy with your own contributions, comments and suggestions. The change from our Rootsweb host to the new FLGenWeb has been a wonderful success. Thanks for your patience in the transition!

Since I am not a research specialist, I regret that I am unable to give you personal assistance in your research; however, I may be able to point you in the right direction! I sincerely wish you happy hunting within these pages that are made possible by so many diligent volunteer contributors!
