24, 2005 by Evan Strohl: This small cemetery is relatively new. I discovered and surveyed it
while reviewing and visiting some older cemetery
sites. This cemetery belongs to Cottage Hill Assembly of God Church on
nearby Neal Road, which is located just several blocks north of the
cemetery. The complete property was
acquired by the church and two acres were set aside for this cemetery. The Cottage Hill Assembly of God Cemetery is unfenced,
well-kept, easily accessible, and appears relatively safe. In 2005, Ted McGlotheren served as the point of contact. Currently, the point of contact and/or caretaker is Mr. Dudley Destin.* The church’s phone number is (850)968-2085.
The earliest burial there is 1992,
making it
one of our
county’s newest. The most
common surnames include McCRORY, DRIVER, McGLOTHREN, WHITEHEAD,
and THOMAS. This cemetery is open only for burials of church members.
This cemetery is divided into two major
sections—South and North—divided by the main driveway running the length of
the cemetery, East to West. There is a
four-foot statuette near the center of the property.
Directions: Drive
north on US29 from US90A [Nine Mile Road], for 6.4 miles, through the community
of Cantonment; then one block past the traffic signal, take CR-95A to the right,
and travel another 0.8 mile to the cemetery, on the left side of the
highway, adjacent to Jim Allen Elementary School.
