We are focusing our interest mainly in Duval County for now, but we are adding information for the following counties as well: Clay, St. Johns, Baker and Nassau. | The Florida State Genealogical Society, Inc., founded in 1977, promotes the study and research of genealogy and local history. We publish THE FLORIDA GENEALOGIST, a quarterly journal with a variety of articles on Florida families and research, and FLORIDA LINES, a newsletter featuring Society news and general items of interest to our members. We hold an annual conference each year in a different Florida location. This year's conference will be 29-30 October in Sarasota. We present awards yearly for Outstanding Achievement in genealogy and history and specifically in Florida genealogy and history. We also conduct the Florida Pioneer Descendants program. | The Florida
Historical Society is the oldest cultural organization in Florida.
It is the only state-wide historical society. The Society publishes The
Florida Historical Quarterly, the official historical journal of
the state. It also publishes Journeys for the Junior Historian,
a youth history magazine. The Society holds an annual meeting once a
year. This year it is from April 29-May 1 at the Holiday Inn Sunspree
Resort in Daytona Be ach. The topic is "Planters in Paradise: Florida's
Plantation Economy."
