Jacksonville Genealogical Society
The Jacksonville Genealogical Society will
hold its monthly meeting, November 17, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at the
Webb-Wesconnett Branch Library, 6887 103rd Street, Jacksonville, Fl. This
is a dual purpose meeting in that it is time to elect officers for the
next two years. Additionally, November is our traditional "Show and
Tell" meeting where members and guests are invited to bring family
heirlooms and discuss their history. Refreshments will be served.

Genealogical Society will hold their regular monthly meeting, January
19, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., at the Webb-Wesconnett Branch Library, 6887 103rd Street,
Jacksonville, Florida. We are very pleased to have as our
speaker, Dr. Carolyn Williams, Professor of History at the University of North Florida.
She will discuss African-American History and Genealogy; From Slavery
to Freedom; African-American Migration from Fort George Island to Jacksonville,

Planning ahead for February
2008. The Jacksonville
Genealogical Society will hold their Spring Seminar on February 16,
2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Westside Christian Church, 10123
Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville Florida. Cost is $30.00 for JGS members
and $35.00 for non-members. Price includes lunch, with early
registration. Registration at the church will begin at
8:30 a.m. Our guest lecturer and genealogy researcher is Ann Osisek.
Her topics will be "Calico & Cornbread", Finding Your Female
Ancestor; "Dead Men(And Women) Do Talk", Effective Cemetery Research;
"Where Have All the Cousins Gone", Connecting on the Internet; and
"24/7", Making Time For Research.

dealing with "Heritage Quest Online-The Ins and Outs." Duval county
residents holding a library card can use Heritage Quest Free at the
library. Ann will help you in your exploration of Heritage Quest. For
