Note #1: The HAVERS should read HAVEN. Richard White, originally submitted information on this family. He believes this is William George HAVEN, the brother to his 2nd great-grandfather, John Shephard HAVEN.  John S., the son, is John Shepherd "Shep" HAVEN, named after his father's brother by the same name. Shep served in the 1st Florida Reserves under the Confederacy. John Shepherd Haven (the elder) along with his brother (listed here as the head of household) William George Haven, served in Captain Charles Geddes Campbell's Independent Company of Georgia Siege Artillery, which garrisoned Confederate Fort Ward at the old Spanish fort... San Marcos de Apalachee, at St. Marks, Florida. William George probably only briefly, maybe a week or two after the Battle of Natural Bridge. Both John Shepard & William George Haven served for two enlistments in the militia in the 2d Seminole War... one each in a Georgia unit & in a Florida unit. Their father, Andrew Haven, died while serving in the Florida Mounted Militia, on 22 May 1838. He had served in the SC militia in the War of 1812 and was apparently born in Maryland.
Additional Information on this family provided by
Thomas D. Santa Cruz. The HAVEN family was living in Columbia County in 1850, but that part was Suwannee County by 1860.  The HAVEN family moved onto bounty land by 1860.  The family was located near where now I-10 & I-75 intersect, just southwest of the intersection.  By 1870 the family had moved to Cedar Key. Sarah, wife of William George HAVEN was Sarah BRYAN, the daughter of  John BRYAN, who is found on page 215 of the 1860 Census.
